Math and English fundamentals lay the groundwork for all learning that follows in education. At Saso High School Prep we are committed to advancing your child's foundational skills.

Math Workshops
A solid basic foundation in mathematics is needed for high school math, algebra, geometry, trig, calculus, science, foreign language and the arts. Math facilitates a commonsense way of thinking that encourages organizational skills, logical and analytical thinking, and making deductions.

Mathematics for the HSPT

For current 7thgraders
Review math skills that will enable students to succeed on the math and quantitative sections of the HSPT
Strengthen core essential math skills without dependence on a calculator (Note: Students may not use calculators on the HSPT)
Improve proficiency with fundamental math concepts that are tested on the HSPT including: decimals, fractions, equations, percents, proportions, basic geometry, and positive and negative numbers
Develop organizational and study skill habits

Introduction to Algebra

For 7th and 8th graders

Build a solid foundation for taking Algebra
in 8th or 9th Grade

Strengthen Algebraic concepts and problem-solving techniques for students currently enrolled in Algebra or pre-Algebra

Reinforce important Algebraic concepts including: solving equations and inequalities, working with monomials and polynomials, graphing linear equations, working with exponents, factoring binomials and polynomials, and much more

English Workshops

Understanding and applying parts of speech has proven to be a highly successful tool in essay writing. The ability to write well is key for unlocking academic success in high school and beyond. Like math, writing concepts build on each other.

Grammar Skills for Successful Writing

Open to 7th - 8th graders

Mastering parts of speech to understand language and express your thoughts

Applying knowledge to construct clear, direct and to the point sentences

Improving vocabulary to make yourself a better reader and writer
