Saso HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment

For 7th grade students

The Saso HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment is designed to let you know how prepared your child is for the HSPT® -- the High School Placement Test -- which is one of the most important criteria Catholic high schools use to determine admissions. The Saso HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment provides:
  • An assessment of math and English skills necessary for success on the HSPT®

  • Immediate feedback on your child’s performance

  • Analysis of your child's strengths and weaknesses in math and English
  • Suggestions for the next step in your child's preparation for the HSPT®

  • FREE downloadable Vocabulary Workbook with registration!

Your child will start off with the English Assessment which covers the Verbal, Reading, and Language sections of the HSPT®. The English assessment tests your child’s knowledge of English grammar, reading comprehension, deductive reasoning skills, and vocabulary. Knowledge of vocabulary is a huge part of both the Verbal and Reading sections of the HSPT®. Included with your registration for the HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment is a free downloadable vocabulary workbook. This workbook will help your child begin to build a more extensive vocabulary. The workbook consists of 240 vocabulary words, along with fill-ins and quizzes to test your child’s knowledge of the words.

After completing the English section of the assessment, your child will then take the Math Assessment which covers the Quantitative and Math sections of the HSPT®. The Math Assessment tests your child’s knowledge of the following math skills: fractions, decimals, percents, proportions, geometry, quantitative problems, series problems, measurement, equations and more. Since the HSPT® does not allow the use of calculators, students may not use them on the assessment. Your child will need to do all the math problems “by hand” without relying on a calculator.

You will receive immediate feedback as to your child’s performance on the HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment. Students will take home both the Math and English assessment “tests” and their corrected scantron answer sheets, along with an evaluation page with suggestions for further preparation for the HSPT®

Tuition for the HSPT® Diagnostic Assessment is $49.99.

After you register your child for the assessment, we will e-mail you a link to the Vocabulary Workbook

After completing the assessment, if your child needs additional work in math, our Math for the HSPT® Workbook can be a helpful aid in reviewing the basic math skills, as well as the more advanced concepts that are necessary for success on the HSPT®.

If your child needs additional work in English, our Grammar Skills for the HSPT® Workbook can be a helpful resource. The workbook reviews the grammar rules that students will need to know in order to do well on the Language section of the HSPT®. In addition, there are practice reading passages, vocabulary lessons, and a method for solving logic problems, which are found on the Verbal section of the HSPT®.
